Wickenburg is a town with its own building department, sitting at the north-west edge of the valley where the metro genuinely ends. It is far enough out that we plan a project here as a committed run rather than as a job a crew drops into between others.

The building fabric is unlike the metro. There is a historic downtown with genuine old masonry and adobe, and beyond it ranch property on acreage — outbuildings, barns, shops and homes on well and septic rather than city services. Work on a historic wall needs breathable finishes rather than a modern impermeable coating, which is a mistake that shows up years later as failed plaster.

On acreage the utilities are the project as often as the building is. Septic capacity, well output and the run of power to an outbuilding all have to be established before a design is worth drawing.
