Avondale permits through its own development services department. The city sits between the older west valley and the newer growth beyond it, and its housing reflects that — a small older core around historic Avondale and a much larger body of late-1990s and 2000s subdivisions.

In the newer subdivisions the common job is finishing what the builder left: patio extensions, shade structures, garage conversions and the storage a family works out it needs two years in. In the older core the work is closer to repair — roof replacement, stucco patching over block, and bringing branch circuits up to current code once a wall is open.

Lot sizes in the production tracts are tight and side yards are narrow. We size the equipment to the access rather than the job, which sometimes means a smaller machine and an extra day instead of taking down a fence.
