Building in Carefree

Carefree is a town with its own government and its own building rules, and they are protective of how the place looks. Height, colour, lighting and how a building sits against the desert are all live questions here, and a design that ignores them does not get built.

The housing is high-end custom on desert lots, much of it organised around the boulder outcrops the town is known for. That drives real construction consequences: excavation into rock, foundations stepped around immovable stone, and site walls that have to look like they were always there.

Dark-sky expectations shape the exterior lighting on every project, and the finish standard is unforgiving — long clean stucco runs and exposed steel where every joint is visible. We plan those elevations before starting rather than resolving them on site.
